FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS ICBAS AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL? Absolutely! ICBAS is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts And Sciences (NACCAS). We are approved to operate in the State of California by the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, and by the Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE). We are also approved by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to participate in Title IV Financial Aid programs and we are a member of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS). WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION? In order to receive your Diploma or Certificate of Completion, you must fulfill the hours required for your program, and pass both the written and practical exams. WILL I RECEIVE MY LICENSE UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM? One of our primary goals is to prepare you for the State licensing exam. Prior to the actual test, we will give you a mock board exam in our school, so you won't have any surprises. It is up to you to pass the exam in order to obtain your license, but rest assured that our graduates have a very high success rate and currently our passing rate is 100%. WHAT ARE THE CLASSES LIKE? Our classes are a combination of lectures, hands-on (practical) applications, guest speakers, live demonstrations and videos, participation in many special events, trade show competitions, and in-school events which have different themes depending upon the time of the year and occasion. Trust us: You will never be bored. HOW SOON MAY I BEGIN AFTER MY ENROLLMENT IS APPROVED? ICBAS' classes begin bi-weekly or monthly, depending on the program. We have an open enrollment policy. Please contact the school Registrar at 818-548-3578 to determine specific dates. WHERE CAN I GO TO GET MY GED? GED CLASSES AVAILABILITY (Federal Disclosure) CAN I OBTAIN FINANCIAL AID THROUGH ICBAS? Certainly. We can help arrange for financial assistance for those who qualify, through both government and private programs. The various assistance programs are quite flexible and can be tailored to suit your particular needs. IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO BECOME A STUDENT? You must be at least 17 years of age to enroll. MUST I HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA? No, but you will have to possess a GED Certificate or be able to show that you can benefit from our training by passing the Ability To Benefit (ATB) test, which we administer. HOW SOON WILL I BE WORKING ON REAL PEOPLE? After eight weeks, following Phase 1 of the program, you will begin working on both mannequins and real people. WILL ICBAS HELP ME FIND A JOB AFTER I PASS MY EXAM AND OBTAIN MY LICENSE? We are here to help you with placement assistance. Needless to say, we cannot guarantee that you will find a job right away, but we will certainly help you in every way possible to achieve your goals.
